The History Channel

A voice of great personality and range, from warm sincerity to Darth Vader-like menace, James Lurie has worked for the biggest companies in the news, entertainment and advertising businesses. His was the signature voice of “Crossing Over with John Edward”, the Concert for America from the Kennedy Center, the Smoking Gun Awards, the American Film Institute Awards, and hundreds of national advertising campaigns.

His extraordinary skill as a narrator is reflected in his work for such prestigious clients as History, Discovery, National Geographic and PBS. At one point, programs James narrated were simultaneously the first, third and fourth highest rated shows ever for History Channel. If you are looking for a compelling voice with the ability to capture and hold an audience, contact him!

James has an eclectic background; he’s been a musician, a writer, a Doctoral candidate in Chinese History (HBO chose him as the promo voice for their Chinese film retrospective and he stunned them with perfect pronunciation!) He’s even been the voice of a talking gasoline pump. As an actor he’s had recurring roles on Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Law & Order, Picket Fences and As The World Turns, to name but a few, and he won a Dramalogue Award in Los Angeles for his stage work.
